Gloucester, UK – Dowty Propellers has signed the Master Contract for its propeller system on the MA700, covering the company’s design, development, production and in-service support for this twin-engine regional airliner from the AVIC Aircraft Co. Ltd.
The Master Contract agreement follows completion of the joint development phase for the MA700’s propeller system, which incorporates six composite blades with advanced swept design, as well as the propeller electronic controller (PEC) that provides automatic control through all phases of flight.
“Dowty Propellers is proud to be supporting the MA700 programme,” said Oliver Towers, the President of Dowty Propellers. “Now that we have concluded the Master Contract, we are keen to build on the strengthening relationship with the AVIC Aircraft team in developing the aircraft, and we look forward to seeing it make a successful entry into service.”
Delivery of the initial flightworthy MA700 propeller hardware is scheduled for the second half of 2019, with type certification targeted in 2021.
The MA700 will be equipped with a derivative of Dowty Propellers’ proven R408 propeller system, which already has accumulated millions of flight hours in service on regional airliners around the world.
Developed as China’s new-generation turboprop aircraft, the MA700 will be powered by Pratt & Whitney Canada PW150C turboprop engines. The airliner is sized for regional air transport’s medium-capacity sector, accommodating from 68 to 86 passengers.
