An innovator with a history of firsts-to-market, we are suppliers of propeller systems to the global turboprop aircraft market, covering both commercial aircraft and military air and sea-craft.
Who we are
One of only a few FAR 25 type certificate holder suppliers in the world certifying propeller systems for civil aircraft, we are proud of our unique safety record. We are passionate about propellers and have been since 1937; we believe in engineering excellence and engaging in advanced manufacturing techniques to achieve the best outcome for our customers.
We partner with our customers and potential customers to create a bespoke solution to their propulsion needs of today and tomorrow. We engage in significant research and development in aeroacoustics and aerodynamics as we seek to play a leadership role in the global aviation push towards a zero-carbon future (and we help our customers in that quest). We firmly believe in the inclusion of turboprops in that sustainable future. Backed by an experienced team, we support our customers with an enviable global maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) service, including dedicated MRO sites and a team of roving engineers who visit our customers on site or on occasion are permanently based at the customer’s site. AOG support is offered 24/7.

Welcome to Dowty, global experts in propulsion technology. We design, manufacture test and service propeller systems—featuring all-composite blades—and offer solutions for propulsion needs of today and tomorrow. Our focus for the future is developing technology that places us at the forefront of sustainable aviation and we are pioneering energy efficiency and noise reduction technologies ready to support the challenges airframers are facing to achieve this. After decades of aviation ‘firsts’, innovation continues to drive us forward as we explore a new age of aircraft propulsion, starting with hybrid-electric systems.

Where we are
As a global supplier of propeller systems and aftermarket services, our global customer support network is extensive. Headquartered in Gloucester, UK, with OEM manufacturing and MRO capability, we also have MRO facilities in Virginia, USA and Brisbane, Australia plus field service engineers on-site at various commercial and military customers. In addition, over 40 field service engineers offer repair and overhaul services to customers wherever they are located around the world.
