Gloucester, England – Dowty Propellers, a part of GE Aviation, is pleased to announce the opening of a repair facility in Australia to support operators of Bombardier* Q400 aircraft in the region.
“The opening of propeller repair capability in Australia for the Q400 aircraft enables us to provide more local support to operators in the region, building on the network of facilities operated by GE Aviation,” said Oliver Towers, president of Dowty Propellers. “This represents an important commitment to support the Bombardier Q400 aircraft programme. We will continue to review the needs for additional local support as the fleet expands globally.”
Located at the existing GE facility in Brisbane, the Q400 aircraft propeller repair operations opened on 3rd January 2012. This marks a long- term investment to support the growing fleet in the region. Initial capability will be to repair blades and spinners.
The 19,100 sq. ft. site is certified to Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) and European Air Safety Authority (EASA) standards, and located at Brisbane airport.
The Brisbane team has completed the necessary training at Dowty’s UK facility and CASA has granted approval for the propeller repair activities on the Q400 aircraft.
