Operators across Africa of the De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprop can benefit from Dowty-quality MRO services for their propeller systems via the Ethiopian Airlines (EAL) MRO facility in Addis Ababa.
Delivering reduced turnaround times and easier shipping arrangements, operators can benefit from Dowty quality services whilst minimising the time their aircraft are off the ground. Trained by Dowty, EAL propeller technicians can work on the majority of repairs to blades and hubs, with only the most severely damaged items needing to be returned to the UK.
Dowty signed the agreement to extend its network of MRO coverage in Africa in 2018. Under the agreement, EAL benefits from Dowty training, support, technical data and equipment. This not only enables Ethiopian to repair and overhaul the Dowty R408 propeller systems that equip its own large fleet of 29 Dash 8-400 turboprops, but also establishes it an authorised repair and overhaul facility for other operators in Africa. The Ethiopian facility – which is FAA and EASA certified – currently offers MRO services to several operators in Africa including Tanzania Airways, RwandAir and Jambojet.
