This five-year programme, aimed at post-A Level applicants, covers multiple engineering disciplines and participants graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Mechanical Engineering, usually from the University of West England (UWE) in Bristol.
A five-year programme, the Degree Apprenticeship is an alternative to full-time university, allowing you to combine studying for a B Eng in Mechanical Engineering while gaining industrial experience working at Dowty.
Years 1-3
- Part-time study at Gloucestershire College learning the principles of engineering
- Enrolment in a BEng (Hons) degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of The West of England (Bristol)
- A series of work placements within our engineering teams to gain skills and experience working on front line projects. These typically cover mechanical design, composites design, mechanical analysis, aero-acoustics, controls, electronics and systems and manufacturing engineering.
- Support from technical and pastoral mentors from both Dowty and the university
- Various opportunities to participate in enrichment activities, such as STEM related engagement in local schools, at careers fairs and at the Cheltenham Science Festival.
