Dowty Propellers is honoured to have achieved tier 2 membership of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC). Following our previous collaboration on the Digital Propulsion (DigiProp) research and development programme, we are excited to explore new opportunities for collaborative research and to start connecting with our fellow members.

“AMRC membership is a significant step in our technology development portfolio as we continue to push manufacturing technology boundaries; enabling us to use lighter, more sustainable materials, reduce our own carbon footprint, and drive continuous improvement in our product’s performance. The collaboration opportunities this provides us business will prove invaluable as we look to develop the next generation of innovative propeller systems.”  Joseph Markey, Advanced Lead Engineer.

What does AMRC do?

The AMRC is one of seven High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres in the UK, backed by the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK. Led by its industrial members, AMRC which is a network of world-leading research & innovation centres and advanced manufacturing companies around the globe.

Particularly relevant to Dowty, the AMRC offers a full range of advanced manufacturing technology capabilities for the aerospace sector, leading expertise in the industry, and an environment of collaboration between industry, academia, and government.

Other industrial members of AMRC include Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, GKN Aerospace, Rolls Royce, Safran Landing Systems.

Why is this an important step for Dowty and what does it signal about our future plans?

AMRC membership will provide Dowty with a high-profile platform to showcase our capabilities to key companies and stakeholders and gain industry recognition through our active association with the UK’s leading centre of excellence for advanced manufacturing.

It also provides us access to AMRC members for project partnering and collaboration, both within the different research programmes run by AMRC and through external projects that could spring from new relationships.

This continuing partnership is a big step towards our goals of delivering more sustainable manufacturing and combined with our Lean initiatives, a more efficient business.
