Strategically based in the Asia-Pacific region, Dowty Propellers has two main repair and overhaul facilities in Australia, supporting its propeller systems in service with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and three civil airline customers: QantasLink, AirAsia and Nok Air.

Fourteen technicians are split between the two bases: at Brisbane Airport (for civil and military aircraft); and at RAAF Base Richmond, located 50 kilometres northwest of Sydney in New South Wales.

In Brisbane, a purpose-built propeller maintenance facility looks after repair and maintenance of composite-bladed propellers on the De Havilland Aircraft Dash 8-400, the Fokker F50 and Leonardo’s C27J Spartan.

At Richmond, dedicated engineers handle maintenance tasks on composite propellers for the Lockheed Martin-built C130J Hercules airlifters utilised by the RAAF.

A further team of three roving field service engineers travel to support customers at their own bases in the Asia-Pacific region. Additional team members in logistics, finance, and human resources complete Dowty Propellers’ support functions at the current 20,000-sq.-ft. Brisbane facility – soon to be replaced by a new, purpose-built 33,000-sq.-ft. facility on the Brisbane Airport Precinct.
