Dowty Propellers has developed marine-qualified propeller systems that are mission-proven in some of the most challenging operational conditions on multi-role amphibious aircraft.
R414 propeller system for the ShinMaywa US-2
Dowty Propellers’ R414 propeller system equips the ShinMaywa US-2 – a STOL (short takeoff and landing) aircraft designed for operations in rough sea conditions, which is powered by four Rolls-Royce AE2100Jx4 4,500 shp. turboprop engines.
The propeller system has a high-strength steel hub and six rugged composite blades, which are capable of resisting wave impacts and are resistant to corrosion. Both the propeller control and spinner ice protection are digital, with its digital propeller control system integrated in the FADEC (full-authority digital engine controls).
Other propeller system elements include the pitch control unit, auxiliary pump, over-speed governor, de-icer timer unit and brush block bracket kit.
Adding to the US-2’s maintainability is the capability to remove and replace blades individually.
